Background
HDI had undertaken the project “Exploratory Study on Initiating a Community Centric Urban Governance Project” in the Balikuda area of Cuttack district with support from NFI. As an extension to this effort, NFI is currently partnering with HDI in building up and strengthening the social processes in the wards of Cuttack to pave way for improving the quality of life of the citizens through community centric participatory governance.
Project Details
The scoping study will cover two wards in the Cuttack Municipal Area, State of Orissa, with predominantly urban poor population with limited access to water, waste and sanitation facilities. The Project will have the following broad activities -
• Mapping studies of the wards and secondary research on Cuttack, to understand the macro-level picture of services and issues. This is to serve as a base for furthering the replication of this model
• Entry point activities, predominantly demonstration projects to enable the community to understand the significance of the interventions and their impacts
• Awareness, training and capacity building
• Building up the understanding of IUWM, documentation and advocacy to facilitate wider dissemination on the learning’s
