An inspiring story from Morigaon district of Assam. Local initiatives captured by researchers of the Guwahati based NGO, Resources Center for Sustainable Development (RCSD), illustrates the power of local innovations in sustainable water management.
In collaboration with Arghyam, RCSD is working in Morigaon District of Assam. This region hosts an extensive wetland (locally known as beel) system, which provides a range of ecosystem services to the local population. RCSD is working on reducing the agriculture water stress on these wetland systems which has led to encroachments in recent years. This youtube video showcases how local low cost innovations are used for sustainble water use from beels.
